Privacy Policy

Effective 16 July 2026

The whole policy in one line: Traceless collects nothing. There are no servers, no analytics, no account, and no network. Everything happens on your iPhone, and your photos never leave it.

Traceless is an app that reveals the metadata hidden in your photos and videos — location, date, device, and more — and removes it. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it. The honest answer is: almost nothing happens, because almost nothing is ever collected.

What we collect

Nothing. Traceless does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information about you. We don’t know who you are, we can’t see your photos, and we have no database with your name in it. This isn’t a promise we ask you to take on faith — the app is built with no networking code at all, which you can verify by running it in Airplane Mode. It works exactly the same.

  • No personal data (name, email, phone, address).
  • No photos or videos — they are read and cleaned entirely on your device.
  • No usage analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting sent to us or anyone.
  • No advertising identifiers, device fingerprints, or location tracking.
  • No cookies (the app is not a website).

Your photos and videos

To reveal and clean a photo, Traceless needs to read it. When you pick a photo — or grant access to your library — iOS hands the file to the app on the device. Traceless inspects the metadata, shows you what’s there, and, when you choose to clean it, writes a new version with the selected data removed. If you ask it to save a cleaned copy back to your library, iOS asks your permission first.

At no point is a photo, a video, or any part of one uploaded, backed up to us, or shared with a third party. We never receive them, because there is nowhere for them to go.

App settings and statistics

Traceless keeps a few things on your device so it can work: your preferences (like appearance and cleaning options) and simple local counts (like how many files you’ve cleaned today, used for the free limit of 3 files a day). This is stored in the app’s own storage on your iPhone using Apple’s standard UserDefaults. It stays on your device, is never transmitted, and is removed when you delete the app.

No network, no servers

Traceless has no backend. There is no Traceless server that your device talks to, because one doesn’t exist. The app does not make network requests. This is the core of how it protects you: data that never travels can never be intercepted, leaked, subpoenaed, or sold.

Purchases

If you buy Traceless Pro, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Apple processes your payment; we never see your card number, billing address, or Apple Account details. Apple may share anonymous, aggregate sales information with us (for example, how many purchases happened in a country) that is not tied to you as an individual. Your use of the App Store is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Third parties

There are none. Traceless includes no third-party SDKs, no analytics libraries, no advertising networks, and no trackers. Because we don’t track you across apps or websites, iOS never shows you an App Tracking Transparency prompt — there’s nothing to ask for.

Children

Traceless is safe for people of any age precisely because it collects nothing from anyone. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, or from adults, because we do not collect personal information at all.

Your rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR and CCPA give you the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data a company holds about you. Traceless holds no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to retrieve, export, or delete on our side. To remove the app’s local settings and statistics, simply delete the app from your iPhone.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever changes in a way that affects your privacy, we’ll update this page and change the effective date at the top before the new version ships. Given the app’s design — no network, no collection — we don’t expect that to change. If it ever did, it would be opt-in and spelled out plainly.
