Do my photos ever leave my iPhone?
No, never. Traceless has no servers and makes no network requests. Your photos are read, revealed and cleaned entirely on your device. Put your phone in Airplane Mode and everything still works, which is the simplest way to prove it to yourself.
Does cleaning reduce my photo’s quality?
No. By default Traceless is lossless: it edits the metadata and writes the pixels back byte for byte identical, with nothing re-compressed. The one exception is Deep clean, an option you turn on yourself, which re-saves the file to reach hidden copies of data such as maker notes and embedded thumbnails. Deep clean is the only case where the image is re-encoded, and it is always your choice.
What exactly does it remove?
Location (GPS), date and time, device make and model, software version, and lens and camera settings. You choose which of these to remove, field by field, rather than all or nothing.
Does it work on videos?
Yes. Traceless removes location and device metadata from videos. One honest limitation: when iOS saves a cleaned video it always stamps a fresh save-time on the file, so the original recording time is replaced with the moment you cleaned it rather than left blank. The original capture time is gone either way, it just is not left empty.
How many photos can I clean for free?
The free version cleans 3 files a day, and the count resets at midnight. Traceless Pro removes the limit and can clean any number of files in one pass.
Will it overwrite my originals?
Only if you tell it to. You can save a clean copy alongside the original or replace the original. The app shows you which one will happen before it does anything, and asks iOS for permission to save.
How much does it cost?
The app is free to download and cleans 3 files a day at no cost. Traceless Pro removes the limit for a one-time $2.99, or $0.99 a month if you prefer. Nothing auto-renews unless you pick the monthly option.
I bought Pro. How do I restore it on a new device?
Open Traceless, go to Settings and tap Restore purchases. As long as you are signed in with the same Apple Account, your Pro unlock comes right back. Purchases are tied to your Apple Account by Apple, not by us.
What do I need to run it?
An iPhone on iOS 26 or later. Traceless asks for access to your photo library so it can read the photos you pick and save cleaned versions back when you choose to.
